Mike’s Technical Tip: How to Make an Animated GIF

Ever wonder how those animated banner ads you see all over the web are made? If you’ve got Photoshop, read on to learn the steps necessary to make your very own! The GIF format, by the way, is the only file format that allows for animation without having to also do programming (unlike Flash or HTML5, for example.) JPEG is useful for keeping file size down and PNG offers transparency, but neither can be animated. So, let’s get started:

Bonnie’s Pick of the Month: Google Translate

 

GoogleTranslateNow that we’re in the dog days of summer, many folks are taking some well-earned vacation time to travel. My pick of the month for August might just help you get around your new destination, especially if they speak another language. My pick is the Google Translate app. The latest update added 27 languages to the app. Two awesome features that will help are the Real-Time Voice Translation and the Instant Translation feature for printed text.
