What to Consider When Designing a Logo

What Should Your Logo Look Like, and Why?

Logos are important visual elements that serve to connect consumers with a brand. Done well they become iconic. Most people can immediately visualize the logos of such well-known organizations as Nike, McDonald’s or Google.

Unfortunately, not all logos are as effective and there are a number of things to consider when designing a logo. The first thing you want to find is the right design firm to fit your needs. There are many agency online resources available.

As President and Creative director of Clockwork Design Group, Inc I have a lot of experience with logo design and much of that experience involves working with clients to help them understand what a logo is intended to do, and what it’s not intended to do.

Mike’s Technical Tip: Keep WordPress and Plugins Updated

WordPressWordPress is a very robust, flexible, and user-friendly Content Management System (CMS). It’s also incredibly popular – almost 75 million websites are currently powered by WordPress. One of the strengths of all this power and popularity is that the WordPress community is always adding, updating, enhancing, and fixing WordPress itself as well as its endless array of “plugins.” Plugins offer custom functions and features that add to or extend the WordPress core.

But as we’re told in the movies these days, “With great power comes great responsibility.” It might not be that dramatic, but there is a serious side to all this: it’s very important that you keep your installed copy of WordPress and plugins up to date. The two basic reasons are 1) functionality, as bugs are squashed and features added, and 2) security patches.
