I had an amazing time attending, sponsoring, and helping organize the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) New England’s Regional Conference. It is always great to see fellow LMA members and learn about the latest legal marketing trends. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the conference:

  • “Your brand lives in the stories your customers tell other people.”
  • “What clients want: ‘Can you fix my problem? Will you make my life easier? Do I enjoy you as person?’”
    – Wicker Park Group
  • “One size fits ONE.” There is no one size fits all in client service.
    – Wicker Park Group
  • “The #1 client complaint about law firms is still responsiveness.”
    – Dan Weintraub, General Counsel and Managing Director, Audax Group
  • “Marketing is a data-driven science. People often see it as a ‘nice-to-have’ because they don’t think it drives the future of the company. But marketing is actually about using data to target audiences and create value. It’s about monetizing things.”
    – CMO, chemicals and petroleum company, Germany
(Eric Lesser, the Research Director at the IBM Institute for Business Value, presented this quote in the keynote. If you missed the keynote or want to learn more about IBM’s C-suite Study, read more at www.ibm.com/csuitestudy and see the CMO Insights Infographic)
  • “The worst thing you can do is try to cross sell before you know how you’re doing with the current business.”
    – Lisa Zagami, Client Relationship Executive, Ropes & Gray
  • “As a marketer you can never be too familiar with your data.”
    – Catherine MacDonagh, Legal Lean Sigma Institute
  • “Be a Master of Reinvention.”
    – Leah Schloss, Director of Marketing, Sullivan & Worcester
