Cookies

Cookies are text files placed on your device to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information. When you visit our website, we may collect information from you automatically through cookies or similar technology.

How do we use cookies?

Clockwork uses cookies in a range of ways to improve your experience on our website, including:

  • Understanding how you use our website.
  • Remembering previously selected preferences.

Third-parties also use cookies on our website. Please see more information in the Third-Parties section of the Privacy Policy.

What types of cookies do we use?

There are a number of different types of first-party and third-party cookies, however, our website uses:

  • Necessary – Necessary cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions. The website cannot function properly without these cookies. Clockwork uses these cookies so that we recognize you on our website and remember your previously selected preferences (i.e. cookie consent state for the current domain).
  • Preferences – Preference cookies enable a website to remember information that changes the way the website behaves or looks, like your preferred language.
  • Statistics – Statistic cookies help us to understand how you interact with our website by collecting and reporting the content you viewed, the links you followed and information about your browser, device, and your IP address. This information is crucial to continuously improve our website usability and content.
  • Marketing – Marketing cookies are used by third-party applications to track visitors across websites. We have integrated these for your ease of website use (i.e. save preferences and logins for social media platforms), but those applications may also use cookies to display ads that are relevant and engaging for individual users and thereby more valuable for those publishers and their third-party advertisers.

See the Third-Parties section of this Privacy Policy for more information on third-parties.

How to manage cookies

See our Cookie Declaration for more detailed information about the cookies in use and your current state of consent.

Alternatively, you can set your browser not to accept cookies. The website allaboutcookies.org tells you how to remove cookies from your browser. However, in a few cases, some of our website features may not function as a result.

Third-Parties

Our website is integrated with some third-party applications. Below we explain why we use each application and provide more information on their respective privacy and cookie policies.

Google

We use Google Analytics to better understand our website traffic and YouTube video embeds for ease of integrating video. By using these services, we are sharing information with Google when you visit our website. The web browser automatically sends certain information to Google, including the URL of the page you’re visiting and your IP address. Google may also set cookies on your browser or read cookies that are already there. However, to better respect your privacy, we have set up IP anonymization for Google Analytics in Google Tag Manager.

Google uses the information shared by our website to deliver their services, maintain and improve them, develop new services, measure the effectiveness of advertising, protect against fraud and abuse, and personalize content and ads you see on Google and on their partners’ sites and apps. See Google’s Privacy Policy to learn more about how they process data for each of these purposes and Google’s Advertising page for more about Google ads, how your information is used in the context of advertising, and how long Google stores this information.

You can opt-out of the cookies used by Google on our website for statistics and/or marketing on our Cookie Declaration.

Hotjar

We use Hotjar in order to better understand our website visitors’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our website visitors’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our website with visitor feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our visitors’ behavior and their devices (in particular device’s IP address (captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), preferred language used to display our website). Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual visitors or to match it with further data on an individual visitor. For further details, please see Hotjar’s Privacy Policy.

You can opt-out to the creation of a user profile, Hotjar’s storing of data about your usage of our site and Hotjar’s use of tracking cookies on other websites using Hotjar’s Opt-Out.

HubSpot

The HubSpot platform uses cookies to help us understand how website visitors engage with the content that we produce. The HubSpot platform uses these cookies to allow us to know what parts of our website a visitor spent time interacting with or reading. If a visitor voluntarily chooses to provide their contact information (i.e. completing a form on our website), the cookie in that browser is associated with the newly created contact record in our HubSpot CRM. Cookies cannot be used by themselves to identify a person who has not chosen to provide his or her contact information. Only when website visitors voluntarily provide their contact information can subsequent visits be tied to an individual’s contact record in our HubSpot’s CRM, but detailed browsing information is available to us within HubSpot’s CRM for the past 7 days.

You can opt-out of HubSpot’s tracking of browsing history information by removing consent for the marketing cookies on the Cookie Declaration. You may also request a copy of your contact record data in HubSpot, as well as request the modification or deletion your data from HubSpot.

Emma

We use Emma to manage subscription, send marketing emails, track click-through rates, and visits to our websites from the Emma email mailings. If you complete a form on our website to be added to our email subscription list, your contact data (name, email, subscription consent) will be added to our Emma account. Information on webpage visited from Emma emails are tracked with Google Analytics.

Emma uses various technologies to collect and store information, and this may include using cookies and similar tracking technologies, such as pixels and web beacons. For example, cookies allow Emma to collect information such as your IP address, browser, email client type and other similar details. Emma uses this information to measure the performance of the application and to provide analytics information and enhance the effectiveness of their services. Emma use page tags (also known as web beacons) in the emails we send through their platform. When you receive and engage with marketing messages we send to you, web beacons track certain behavior such as whether the email sent was delivered and opened. Links within these emails are tracked to show individual recipient’s clicks. For more information, read Emma’s Privacy Notice and about Emma’s cookies and other tracking technologies in more detail in Emma’s Cookie Notice.

Twitter

The latest posts from our Twitter account are integrated into the footer of our website through Twitter for Websites. When you view Twitter content integrated into our website using Twitter for Websites, Twitter may receive information including the web page you visited, your IP address, browser type, operating system, and cookie information. This information helps Twitter to improve their products and services, including personalized suggestions and personalized ads. To protect privacy, Twitter never associates this web browsing history with users’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, or Twitter handles, and Twitter deletes, obfuscates, or aggregates it after no longer than 30 days. Learn more about the information Twitter receives and how they use it in Twitter’s Privacy Policy and Cookies Use.

AddThis / Oracle

We use AddThis to enable website visitors to easily share our blog posts on social media and through email. AddThis uses advertising cookies and shares the data collected from website visitors with Oracle. Oracle also uses the data collected from website visitors to enable AddThis Publishers and Oracle Marketing & Data Cloud customers and partners to market products and services to your website visitor; provide you with the ability to provide your website visitors with personalized recommendations and messages; link our website visitor’s browsers and apps across devices; sync our website visitor’s unique identifiers; analyze, develop, and improve the AddThis Tools, AddThis Toolbar, and Oracle products and services; manage the security of their sites, networks, and systems; and comply with applicable laws and regulations and to operate their business. Oracle and their third-party partners may set cookies to collect data and enable the synchronization of unique identifiers to facilitate online behavioral advertising.

You may opt out of AddThis cookies usage on our website by removing consent for marketing cookies on our Cookie Declaration. You may also opt out through Oracle to encompass all websites using AddThis. If you prefer that Oracle and their third-party partners do not receive your personal information via cookies and pixels, you may opt out of collection at any time via the Oracle Data Cloud opt-out. Upon opting out, Oracle will place an opt-out Cookie on your device. The opt-out Cookie tells the AddThis Tools and AddThis Toolbar not to include information from that device in AddThis Data.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this website may include embedded content (e.g. videos from YouTube or Vimeo.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Privacy policies of other websites

The Clockwork website contains links to other websites. Our privacy policy applies only to our website, so if you click on a link to another website, you should read their privacy policy.
