Presenting a live webinar in PowerPoint with a single monitor can be frustrating. If you launch a standard full-screen slide show, your presenter notes get covered, leaving you either memorizing your script or awkwardly switching windows mid-talk. To solve this without adding a second monitor, here is a quick workaround using Zoom and PowerPoint.
Watch the tutorial below:
Step 1: Share a Portion of Your Screen in Zoom
- Open your Zoom meeting controls and click Share Screen.
- Click the Advanced tab at the top of the window.
- Select Portion of Screen and click Share. A green frame will appear on your desktop.
Step 2: Start Slide Show Mode in PowerPoint
- Open your presentation in PowerPoint and launch the slideshow.
Step 3: Switch to Presenter View
- Right-click anywhere on the active slide show.
- Select Use Presenter View from the menu.
- Your screen will show the main slide on the left and your speaker notes and upcoming slides on the right. Your timer will be in the upper left.
Step 4: Align the Zoom Frame
- Click and drag the green Zoom boundary box to cover only the main slide view on the left side of your screen.
- Anything inside the green box is visible to your audience, while your speaker notes remain visible only to you.
That’s all there is to it! By framing just the slide area, you get full access to your talking points, upcoming slides, and presentation timer without exposing your notes to attendees. It’s a seamless setup that gives you the confidence of a dual-monitor rig while traveling or working from a single screen. We hope this was helpful!
